Ten MEPs have joined the Union for the Europe of Nations (UEN) group in the European parliament. The UEN grouping now comprises 44 MEPs and has become the fourth largest group in the parliament.
The head of the right-wing Italian Northern League party, Umberto Bossi, was among those who moved to the UEN on Wednesday; three other Italian MEPs from the Northern League, who had previously been members of the Non-attached group, also joined the UEN.
Six Polish MEPS - who had been either members of the Socialist, Independence and Democracy, or Non-attached groups of the European Parliament - have also joined the UEN grouping.
The group will now be entitled to appoint a vice-president in the European Parliament.
