| Jacques Delors warns on EU social development | <<back next>> |
 | Former European Commission President Jacques Delors warned the heads of government of the EU Member States that they needed “to look further than the end of their noses” if they wanted the EU to work. M. Delors was in Brussels at a meeting called by the Party of European Socialists to discuss the future of EU social policies.
He stated that the current crisis in the EU was entirely political and urged the heads of government to ‘think European’ in deeds rather than just ideals.
M. Delors urged an EU-wide minimum wage, a integrated immigration policy and more social dialogue.
